About this site
Nonpartisan by design
- Every score follows published rules, and the same rules apply to every member.
- Party colors only identify a member's party. They never signal good or bad. The map's shading uses one neutral color.
- Member pages don't use labels like "extreme" or "moderate" beyond the defined liberal-to-conservative rank.
- The methodology is reviewed by an outside university partner before launch and once a year after that.
- Member offices can add context to any vote. It appears next to the vote, labeled as theirs.
Privacy
- Addresses you type are sent to the U.S. Census Bureau's address service to find your district. We don't store them.
- "Use my location" works entirely in your browser. Your location is never sent to us.
- No ads, no tracking cookies, no data sold or shared.
- If we offer email updates, subscriber addresses will never be used for any client, campaign or political committee work, and will never be shared or sold.
Who built it
Public Communicators Group built and maintains this site. The data comes from public records: Voteview at UCLA, Congress.gov, the U.S. Census Bureau, the White House and The Downballot. See how we measure for every source.
